Madina Lake After getting into the gig late I ended up missing the whole of Mayday Parade. Apparently they were very good, according to the people standing around me at the back by the sound desk in the Birmingham Academy 2. I caught the last 3 songs from We Are The Ocean’s set and they seemed to be doing their usually good job of winding the tightly packed and very sweaty crowd into an even more sweaty state of excitement prior to the headline act coming on.

We Are The Ocean The Academy may have been rebranded from Carling to O2 but fear not, as they haven't changed the carpets. Or any of the signs. The crowd sticking to the carpets tonightare largely bedecked in check shirts and hair products, and the room is packed by the end of the first set. My Emergency get the room moving with their energetic pop-punk and exit the stage on a strong note and shoutalong...

The Blackout The Irish Club in Digbeth is a decent venue with a respectable PA and the requisite Gaelic above the bar, and tonight it was crammed from the get go. London's We Are The Ocean may seem all skinny jeans and straighteners but they open strong, and to more than a few shrieks. They played a relatively short set with crowd favourites such as Ready for the Fall and ended on Nothing Good Has Happened Yet, with a handful of the crowd shouting along...
