Slam Dunk Festival is almost here!
It’s nearly summer folks. How can we tell? Because Slam Dunk, the curtain raiser for the UK’s festival season, is here at the end of the month.
The one-day shindig comes to Birmingham’s NEC on Sunday 29 May and features a suitably banging line-up – a line-up that also marks the tenth year of Slam Dunk festival.
The biggest name on the poster is that of Panic! at the Disco, who headline the main stage after returning to the scene earlier this year with new album ‘Death of a Bachelor’. They sit atop a bill that also includes big hitters New Found Glory, Yellowcard and Mayday Parade as well as a strong British showing from Mallory Knox, Young Guns and Moose Blood.
Across the other seven, yes, seven stages there are, quite simply, tonnes of great bands – Of Mice & Men, Every Time I Die, The Story So Far and The King Blues all jump out, but to be honest you’ll be spoiled for choice – check back with us in the days leading up to the festival for a look at who we’re really excited about seeing.
While the lineup is as awesome as we’ve come to expect from Slam Dunk, there is one change for the 2016 vintage; the festival has a new home.
While Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall is closed for refurbishment, the event has moved to the NEC, but still retains the mixture of indoor and outdoor stages that makes Slam Dunk that bit different. This stages will be laid out as follows.
At the time of writing tickets are still available – priced at £42 or £47 with entry to the afterparty (18+, festival is 14+) – from http://slamdunkmusic.com/.
Slam Dunk is here and we’re excited – see you there!
