Rammstein, Sabbath and Maiden for Download 2016!
The countdown to Donington next June is well and truly on.
Rammstein, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden have been confirmed as the three main stage headliners for next summer’s Download Festival, with tickets going on sale this Friday.
The festival will take place at the hallowed grounds of Donington Park from 10-12 June next year and these three bands will be the first of many, many more to be announced.
German industrial legends Rammstein, who recently announced that they are in the studio writing their first new album in nine years, will headline the main stage on Friday 10 June and will no doubt bring fire, pyro, fire, weird props and more fire.
The following evening will then see local heroes and bona fide legends Black Sabbath play potentially their final UK festival performance, as they bring their ‘The End’ tour to this country. As the tour name suggests, next summer is supposed to be their final tour, so we can expect a very special show from Ozzy, Iommi and Geezer.
As if that wasn’t enough, the whole festival will be rounded off by Iron Maiden, who return to Donington as part of their Book of Souls tour. Given that Donington is somewhat close to an airport and Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is a pilot, should we expect to see the band fly in to play? Quite possibly.
Both weekend and day tickets will go on sale from www.downloadfestival.co.uk at 9am this Friday, 23 October, while there will be tonnes more bands announced between now and next summer.
