James Morrison @ o2 Institute, 25th November 2015
This month James Morrison embarked on the eight date tour, starting 16th November at Edinburgh’s Queens Hall, and finished at the Birmingham Institute on the 25th November. James was performing tracks taken from his new album Higher than here as well some of his biggest hits including ‘Broken Strings’, ‘You Give Me Something’ and ‘Wonderful World’. Brumlive sent Samantha Harrison to The Institute. Here’s what she thought:
James Morrison had a beautiful return to music after he has been quite for a few years despite the three platinum albums behind him. The 2007 Brits’ Best Male has brought his come back tour to Birmingham. This tour had everything that a tour would want.
The first thing I really like about this concert is the wonderful stories he shared with his fans. It made the night a lot more intimate. My favourite story was about his dream about Michael Jackson, with a laugh at his own story James told the audience that Michael Jackson came to him and sang the tune of a song that became one of his biggest songs up to date.
Even though the concert was focused on his brand new music the concert wouldn’t of been such a crowd pleaser without his older chart stoppers ‘Broken Strings’ and ‘I Wont Give Up’.
The crowd seemed to be having a great time, his music is slower so the crowed had a slight sway instead of a dance routine. Everybody laughed along with his jokes, had a drink in hand and put their lights in the air when they are needed.
Overall this concert was great, and you could tell James had enjoyed it as much as his fans in the audience. I hope we get more music and bigger and better concerts from James Morrison as he makes his comeback.
