Ellie Goulding’s date tonight at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall is part of her Halcyon Days tour, a tour to promote her new repackaged album previously known as ‘Halcyon’. ‘Halcyon’ debuted at number two on the UK album chart and at number one on the UK album downloads chart, selling 33,425 copies in its first week.

Lulu James opened the show for Ellie with a powerful dance-filled set, her strong vocals and 80s-style songs captured the audiences attention from the outset and she successfully warmed the crowd up for their headliner.

Goulding’s performance was energetic and enthralling from the first track, a song known as ‘Figure 8’ (a previous single from ‘Halcyon’) that features heavy synths and tribal drum beats definitely set the president for the rest of the show. Her set was comprised of a mix of songs from her various albums, including the likes of; ‘Starry Eyed’, ‘I Need Your Love’ and ‘Guns and Horses’. Visually, Goulding was framed by an impressive light and video display, introducing a filmic atmosphere to her set.

Ellie left the crowd pumped up by performing her latest single ‘Burn’, which at one point featured heavy playing on an electric by the headliner herself. With an album so successful it’s refreshing to hear her songs within a show sound even more enhanced than the studio recordings, Ellie Goulding is an artist I’m sure will be around for many years to come.
