Download Festival, 14-16 June 2019

A countdown clock graces the upper right hand corner of Download’s main page signalling the double digit days till the festival awakens. If the number doesn’t get you excited, the lineup tab certainly will!

Heralded as the UKs premier rock festival, Download has a reputation for being a bombastic weekend filled with insanely talented stage acts and an electric festival feel. The three day rock extravaganza has a history of curating epic sets, certainly a festival not to miss for the rock fans who will join the 100,000 other fans. Our Birmingham Live team felt it last year, and immediately marked their calendars for another round of Download.

This year the festival continues to infuse rock lovers with epic set after epic set. With headlining sets from Def Leppard, Slipknot, and Tool the festival promises to intermix fan favourites with some heavy hitters. If the headliners don’t catch your eye than sets by the likes of Slash, Whitesnake, Smashing Pumpkins, Rob Zombie and Lamb of God will no doubt draw you in. To add to the line-up Slayer promises that their Download appearance will be their last UK show, a sad part of rock history that is not to be missed.

A few bands have also just been announced, beefing up the already impressive lineup of 100+ acts.  Symphonic metal titans Epica have been added to the list, an exciting slot that should not be missed. Along with Epica, Elvana, Palisades, Blurred Vision, and The Beaches have just been included for the Download weekend. The added bands offer a unique sonic exploration of rock, layering the weekend with performance energy and bombastic sound.

If rock music isn’t your thing, Download also boasts an impressive array of entertainment. From a comedy stage to a mindfulness initiative to death defying stunts to WWE Wrestling, Download is flooding the festival with something for everyone. And if none of those pique your curiosity the UK Air Guitar Championships are open for applicants.

Download always brings the best together, highlighting rock royalty with fresh sounds. Their lineup is insane with sets that will be talked about for years and years to come. Make sure you pick up your tickets here, and indulge in a little rock weekend!
