BABYMETAL + Vukovi @ The Halls, 29th November 2023
A brilliant night at The Halls in Wolverhampton with Japanese rockers BABYMETAL supported by up and coming Scottish rockers Vukovi for support.
First up are a band on the up at the moment, Vukovi, hailing from North Ayrshire in Scotland and its easy to see why they are ones to watch. Their set is made up of new mainly of songs from their latest album NULA, kicking off with Creep Heat then Lasso. Fronted Janine Shilstone she is the focal point for the band and is constantly jumping, moving and writhing over the stage.
A packed crowd are loving them. Next up is Tainted, then Mercy Kill followed by Slo. Shilstones’s foil is guitarist Hamish Reilly who is brilliant in his understated way. The set ended with I EXIST then La Di Da and the crowd are nicely warmed up by this great performance.
The atmosphere in jam packed The Halls was reaching fever pitch as it is time for Japanese “kawaii metal” phemomenon, with their brand of J-pop idol and heavy metal. The lights go down and the noise from the crowd is deafening. Their backing – Kami Band- enter the stage closely followed by the trio of BABYMETAL in identical costumes to the streams of BABYMETAL DEATH and we are off.
Main vocalist is Su-metal ably assisted by Moametal and Momometal who contribute growls and backing vocals. Their set is made up mainly of songs from their first Babymetal ablum next is Gimme Chocolate!! And their finely honed choreography and vocals are in full flow, next PA PA YA!! Followed by Distortion then BxMxC. They really are a stunningly exciting band to watch and its easy to see why there is so much hype surrounding them.
New song Mirror Mirror is next followed by Brand New Day then Monochrome. Then follows some KAMI band solos, who spend the entire set at the back of the stage leaving the trio of girls out front doing what they do best.
A trio of songs from their first album is next METALI!!, Megitsune and a rollocking Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! After 70 minutes of pure entertainment they finish with Road of Resistance. They are a band that you must see and witness the incredible BABYMETAL
