Alessia Cara + Craig Stickland @ The Institute, 25th March 2015
The rising YouTube Cover star Alessia Cara is surely an artist that created a buzz throughout 2015 and leading into 2016 on her “Know It All” tour she came to Birmingham. The Juno Award nominee has already achieved so much that is hard to believe she is only 19 and has so much more to give.
Her show started off with support from Craig Stickland a Toronto native (like Alessia) who had some great vocals. Covering Adele’s “Hello” it was hard not to enjoy how good he actually was. He also debuted his new single called “Déjà vu” which captured the audience’s attention with a great melodic acoustics.
Then it was time for the Canadian star to hit the stage and she did not fail to amaze. Her fans couldn’t wait to hear her implausible vocals. Her performance of the song entitled “Overdose” caught my attention as I could see lots of girls singing along to the pleasant-sounding piece.
Relating to her fans through songs like “Wild Things” and “I’m Yours” she got a great response playing with her live band. I also noticed Craig Stickland playing Bass, who looked like he was having a great time being on stage with Alessia.
Saving the best till last, the song “Here” captivated fans as they sang every word. I was in astonishment as to how much her followers loved her. Maybe it was the way every song related to them in some way, they defiantly made her feel welcomed.
